What is Web Hosting?

What is Web Hosting?

Web Hosting is “when a hosting provider allocates space on a web server for a website to store its files. This type of hosting allows other web users to view these files (code, images, etc.) on multiple devices using the web.” Every website that you visit is hosted on a web server.

The amount of space allocated on a server to a website is dependant on the type of hosting and this is where choosing the right package is crucial.

To summarise, here at Banter Hosting (of course) we offer a variety of different web hosting packages. These hosting packages have different perks or allowances, of which the more you pay, the more you get. Now, if you take that package, you are then provided your very own cPanel details of which will allow you to upload your website files, images, videos, etc to the server, which can then be viewed using the URL (domain).

Everytime you go to purchase web hosting with us, you will be asked to either purchase a new domain, use an existing domain or transfer a domain (from one provider to another). This domain is how you will access your website using a web browser – like you are now!

How do I pick the right package?

There is no such way to identify the right package until the time comes. This is because there are many factors that need to be considered from start to the future. You may have a small website, with small traffic? you could have a large e-commerce website but still have small traffic? or you could start off as small website, and progress to a larger website, with large amounts of traffic.

Most hosting providers (we do!) offer clients the choice to upgrade and downgrade their packages as and when needed – this allows you to do what is right for you, your business and customers!
